This is a great article! I feel like this a lot. I am the one people look at weird. My thing is I am deaf. I wear hearing aids but they don't always help. Hearing isn't something my brain knows. It is something I have had to learn. Keep putting that jacket on and stay warm. If people make am issue out of it then that says more about them than you.
Linda, thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your story. That means more to me than you know.
I can’t imagine what it has been like to navigate the world with hearing that doesn’t come naturally, and having to learn something most of us take for granted. That takes patience, strength, and persistence.
But what you said really resonated with me. You’ve found a way to keep going and take care of yourself, even when others don’t fully understand your experience. That’s exactly the heart of what I was trying to communicate!
We may be dealing with very different “temperatures,” but the principle is the same. And I love how you said it: what others make an issue of often says more about them.
I’m grateful you shared this. And I’m really glad you’ve kept putting your own “jacket” on and moving forward.
